Q & A

Why did you choose your profession?

My father is a self-made financial success story whose first job was in sales, selling typewriters. Big tech in that era. From there he bought a mom/pop real estate company. Together, my parents built that company to give me a life they never had. I grew up immersed in the world of sales, particularly because of my father. I studied psychology in college and loved it. Due to circumstances, I did not continue to become a Dr of Psychology (grad school) which was my dream. However, I always knew salesmanship was in my blood and it was a natural decision to pursue that career. The natural characteristics and persona(s) of a salesperson fit well with me. I was fascinated by success and enterprise strategic selling markets. I interviewed in med and tech sales after graduation. Ended up liking Gartner Group the best – my career launched into tech.

What I am most fond of about what I do is connecting highly intelligent people, solving problems, helping my team grow professionally and nurturing relationships. This is represented in my style and approach. It has offered me exposure to highly achieved companies/individuals globally.

Who is the one person who has done the most, to shape you into who you are today?
How was the person significant to you?

This is an interesting question as I have business mentors and I have personal mentors. They do not necessarily cross over in disciplines. From a business perspective, several SVP’s and board members come to mind spanning the entirety of my career thus far. It is difficult for me to choose just one. They all shared a common essence. They believed in me far more than I believed in myself. These individuals were all leaders of their respective companies. They invested time, energy and finance into helping me grow personally as a professional, and leader. We shared mutual respect and admiration for one another.

What has been the greatest accomplishment of your life so far?
Is there anything you wish to do even better?

Personally, my son.

Professionally, using the skills I learned working for/with a Fortune 100 company and applying them to a small software start-up. Managing a team of people who’s disciplines were far different from mine in addition to be highly achieved academics in the field of data science, applied mathematics and s/w engineers. My colleagues, prospects, clients and partners where global leaders both in the public and private sectors. I also am proud of opening the partner channel which was untouched with the most esteemed global consulting firms.

How would your peers and team members describe your responsiveness as a leader?

Authentic, Tenacious, Passionate, Empathetic, Innovative, Serious, Enthusiastic and Compassionate.
